Ukraine’s WBO super-featherweight champion of the world Vasyl Lomachenko triumphed in another ranking. This time, he claimed the title of the best boxer of the passing year granted by the HBO channel.
Last weekend, the fighter confidently defeated Guillermo Rigondeaux and thus defended his WBO title, which added to his already impressive image. Lomachenko retained his WBO title in that bout; the TKO occurred in Round 6, as the Cuban said he injured his hand and could not continue.
Earlier this year, Lomachenko also outmatched Jason Sosa and Miguel Marriaga; in all three fights, he triumphed and preserved his championship.
Previously, the Ukrainian was considered the year's best boxer by Fightnews and Boxing News 24; he also remains in the top three of ESPN and BWAA rankings.
