Foreign Minister urges Ukrainians not to visit Russia for FIFA 2018 World Cup

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin urged Ukrainians not to travel to Russia for the FIFA World Cup 2018.

"I urge all Ukrainians not to go to Russia for the FIFA World Cup 2018. The provocations are guaranteed, and security is not ensured by anyone," Klimkin said.

As it was reported earlier, any broadcast of the approaching FIFA World Cup in Russia should be banned in Ukraine; this is stipulated in the draft law No. 8343, offered by the MPs from Radical Party and Samopomich party. 

The bill offers the Ukrainian Parliament to officially recognize the broadcast of the tournament in Ukraine illegal.

Previously, Ukraine's National Public TV Company said it would not broadcast the competition.

The football World Cup 2018 is to kick off in Russia in June. 

According to Pavlo Klimkin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ukraine holds the negotiations with the football federations and fan organizations on the possibility to boycott the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia or holding of the protests within this event.
