The national football team of Ukraine completed the qualification stage of FIFA World Cup 2022. In the decisive game played on Tuesday night, Oleksandr Petrakov's squad overmatched Bosnians.
To join the group stage of the World Cup, Ukrainians needed a victory; but they also needed the French to beat Finns, otherwise Ukraine would get ranked third in qualification group and leave the competition.
The Yellow Blues swarmed the half of the pitch occupied by Bosnians, delivering combinations and landing shots every way that they could. Bosnians tried to return the favor close to the halftime, but goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan remained on guard.
Ukrainians could not score until the second half. But finally, they succeeded. Viktor Tsyhankov landed a cross from the left flank, and Roman Yaremchuk could not finish it. However, Oleksandr Zinchenko was the first to take control and successfully opened the score. The home team tried to even the odds, but after one of their shots, Ukraine went for a counter-attack and Artem Dovbyk defeated the goalkeeper in a one-on-one.
The national team of Ukraine won and got to the second place in the group; Finns lost to France (0-2). The drawing ceremony for FIFA World Cup group stage will take place on November 26.
