Leader of Ukraine’s national team Yevhen Konoplyanka comes to Lviv, western Ukraine, as Sevilla’s winger. He and his teammates will stand up against Shakhtar Donetsk; the Mountaineers most recently came second in the Ukrainian Premier League, and now they are eager to kick Los Rojiblancos off – only two steps to the main trophy of UEFA Europa League.
Time: April 28, 22.05 (Kyiv time)
Place: Lviv, Arena Lviv stadium
Event: UEFA Europa League, semifinals
Referee: Szymon Marciniak (PL)
Matchup: Shakhtar Donetsk VS Sevilla
So, Shakhtar made it to the semifinals of Europe’s second most prestigious club competition. They did a great job, considering the fact that the team had to play the entire season without their fans. Back in 2014, the Mountaineers had to leave Donetsk due to Russian aggression and settled in Lviv. The city’s main football stadium Arena Lviv has been their home stadium ever since.
For what it’s worth, Shakhtar is determined to continue. Of course, Sevilla is an uneasy sort of opponent, but there are ways for the Ukrainian squad to win the matchup.
Both of the teams are in good shape for the upcoming game. However, both experience certain staffing problems: Sevilla can’t count on French defenders Adil Rami and Benoit Tremoulinas, as well as midfielders Jose Antonio Reyes and Vitolo. Shakhtar’s Brazilian legionnaires Marcio Azevedo and Fred will not be able to help their squad, either.
It’s been the first time Ukrainian Yevhen Konoplyanka returned to Ukraine since his transfer to the Spanish club in 2015. He said he was warmly greeted back home and he certainly will try to show his best in tonight’s game.
