Luis Castro took charge of Shakhtar on 12 June 2019 after signing a two-year deal. He is the 33rd coach in the club history. For Castro it was the first experience of working outside Portugal.
The Portuguese said goodbye to the fans over the weekend, when the team played the last match of the season. Luis Castro worked at Shakhtar for two seasons, winning the Ukrainian league last year and playing in the Europa League semifinals. In 84 games with Luis Castro at the helm, Shakhtar had 51 wins and 16 draws. The team scored 168 goals (two per game).
At the farewell meeting, Castro received a personalized shirt bearing the number 84 (the number of the Miners’ competitive games under Luis Castro) and a memorable souvenir from the club.
As we reported earlier, Ukrainian football player Oleksandr Zinchenko helped Manchester City beat PSG in the semifinals of UEFA Champions League.
