The two major Ukrainian football teams will cross swords at Chornomorets stadium in Odesa on Saturday, July 15. Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk go toe-to-toe in the game for the Super Cup of Ukraine.
As the Mountaineers led the way in both the League and the Cup in the previous season, it is vital for the White Blues to have a good start now and give their eternal rival a real fight. Besides, it’s going to be the first official game for Aleksandr Khatskevich, Dynamo’s new head coach. It’s going to be interesting, indeed; Shakhtar’s manager Paulo Fonseca began his last season with a loss in the Super Cup, but then ended the season triumphantly, winning the cup and scoring another championship for his team.
Dynamo really should gain decent shape as soon as possible to keep the game going; UEFA champions League qualification approaches, and the Kyiv club will have another game with Shakhtar in the national league. The Mountaineers, on the other hand, don’t need to hurry up – their most interesting and essential fixtures in UEFA and the national league will not take place until autumn.
