Finland will hold the 8th stage of the Biathlon World Cup instead of Russia. This was reported on the website of the International Biathlon Union.
Instead of Russian Tyumen, competitions will take place in the Finnish city of Kontiolahti from 6 to 12 March 2017.
Initially, the competition should have been held in Russia, but was postponed after McLaren's report on doping in Russian sports.
Earlier it was reported that the International Olympic Committee decided to extend sanctions against Russia imposed because of the doping scandal. And also the UK stated that Russian national team should not take part in the Winter Olympics in 2018, which will be held in South Korea, after the doping scandal. This opinion was expressed by the head of the British Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) David Kenworthy.
