"The fight is going in the right direction. Dereck wants that fight, Usyk wants that fight. If the governmental bodies can put the right decision, if it goes the IBF route and WBO are happy to wait, and vice versa, I'm sure that this fight will be made. It is the fight everybody wants to see. And it will be for the WBO mandatory position. Fingers crossed, I hope in the next 7-10 days we will have more updates," Haye stated.
As we reported earlier, Ukrainian heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk will not become the next opponent of WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO champion Anthony Joshua. This was stated by the head of the promotion company Top Rank, Inc. Bob Arum.
Kubrat Pulev, the IBF mandatory challenger, is expected to fight Joshua next.
After being asked if Pulev gets a shot at Joshua before the mandatory for WBO (Usyk –ed.), Arum said: “Yes, Pulev is going to be the next one. IBF’s history with mandatory defenses is in books. So Pulev fight would come first, and then – Usyk”.
