European Games in Minsk: Ukraine takes fifth place

On June 21, II European Games kicked off in Belarus capital Minsk. Nearly 4000 athletes are fighting for 200 medal sets in 15 sports.

243 athletes represent Ukraine at European Games 2019. For today, they have won 22 medals: five golden, ten silver, and seven bronze ones. Ukrainians took the fifth place in overall medal standings. Rowers Yury Vandiuk and Andry Rybachok claimed silver medals in 1,000 m race in a canoe; Oleksandr Syromyatnykov and Oleg Kukharyk claimed silver medals in the race in canoe and Oleksandr Khotsianovsky took the bronze medal in freestyle wrestling.

The second European Games in Belarus will be over on June 30, the final closing ceremony will be held at Dynamo stadium.

It should be added that Olympic licenses for Games-2022 in Tokyo will be played out in eight sports.
