The 41-year-old Clattenburg is professional electrician who has been working as FIFA referee since 2006. Since UEFA chose him to serve the final game of Euro 2016, he became the second football referee to serve final games in two most important European competitions in one year. The first one was Portuguese Pedro Proenca who served the UEFA Champions League final match and that of Euro 2012. Clattenburg also served this year’s final match of the English Cup.
Previously at Euro 2016, the British referee worked in the following matches: Belgium vs Italy, Czech Republic vs Croatia (both at group stage of the tournament) and Poland vs Switzerland (the round of the last 16).
The Euro 2016 final match is slated for July 10 at Stade de France in Paris. The opponents will be France and Portugal.
