Emotions may be the main factor to seal the outcome of UEFA Champions League final. Mauricio Pochettino, the head coach of Tottenham Hotspurs said that, sharing his expectations from the decisive game scheduled for June 1.
'Everyone is expecting a tactical battle, but emotions will be the deciding factor. We're two teams that know each other well, so no tactics are going to be a surprise. The emotional side is going to be fundamental', the manager said, with Goal.com quoting him. 'Maybe Liverpool are favorites because they were in the final last year and they've fought for the [Premier League title] until the end. They've invested heavily to win either the Premier League or the Champions League in the last few years. No one expected Tottenham to be able to get to a final, but we're here on our own merit. This makes it more amazing and you enjoy it in a different way. We can make history. Obviously, you play a final to win it and we're preparing to win it'.
Unlike Liverpool, Tottenham made it to the final of UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history. In 1972 and 1984, the team won UEFA Cup; in 1974, they were the finalists in the competition. In 1963, Tottenham won the European Cup Winners' Cup final, beating Atletico Madrid 5-1.
Liverpool are the five-time winners of the Champions League and three-time winners of UEFA Europe League. Football fans may remember the 2004-2005 season that the team spent with tremendous success, winning UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and finishing second at FIFA Club World Cup.
