Dynamo Kyiv hosted Lugano FC in the final game of the group stage of UEFA Europa League.
Kyivites needed a victory to finish second in the group; there was no other way to continue into the playoffs. The home team took control over the ball and began searching for the ways to open the score. But they failed - unlike the guests. Briefly before the halftime, Marco Aratore's header made the score 1-0.
In the second half, Dynamo continued to put pressure on the opponent. Just before the final whistle, Viktor Tsyhankov's shot equalized the score.
Dynamo ended third in their group and thus left the tournament - ironically, along with Lugano. Malmö FF and FC København move on.
The Kyivites have not made it to the playoffs of the European competition since 2016; back then, they finished last in their UEFA Champions League group.
