Dynamo Kyiv lost the opener of its qualification in UEFA Champions League; Brugge's Jan Breydel stadium hosted the game of the League's Qualification Round 2.
The home team won 1-0, claiming their ambitions to proceed. The only goal was scored from the penalty spot, as defender Oleskandr Karavayev tackled Hans Vanaken, Brugge's Vice-captain. Vaneken, in turn, delivered a penalty kick, leaving no chances for Dynamo's goalkeeepr Denys Boiko.
Now, Kyivites will have to put up a decent fight in the return leg, when Brugge comes to the Ukrainain capital.
As we reported, last month, Dynamo won the Super Cup of Ukraine; they defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1. Thus, Kyivites defended the trophy that they won last year. It's been the seventh Super Cup of Ukraine for Dynamo; Shakhtar got eight of these trophies so far.
