Unfortunately, Wednesday was traditionally unsuccessful for the Ukrainian athletes. The failure in the figure skating and very weak showing in the cross-country skiing are the final result of the National Team of Ukraine for today.

Totally, the day was interesting and eventful.

National Team of Ukraine

Ukrainian Anna Khnychenkova failed the short program in the figure skating as her colleague Yaroslav Paniot. She failed twice during her performance and took the 29th place. Khnychenkova was not qualified for the free skating and it was her last performance at 2018 Winter Olympics.


The men’s and ladies’ sprint free took place in the cross-country skiing. The Ukrainian women athletes took the last 10th place and men athlete also took the 10th place; both teams did not get to the final.

The other results

Sofia Goggia from Italy won the gold medal in the ladies’ downhill in the alpine skiing. Ragnhild Mowinckel from Norway took the silver medal and U.S. Lindsey Vonn won the bronze medal.

The women heat took place in the bobsleigh. As the result, Germany was the first, the US – the second and Canada – the third.

The National Team of the US won in women’s sprint free in the cross-country skiing. Sweden took the silver medal and Norway got the bronze medal. However, Norway became the first in the men’s sprint free, OAR was the second and France the third.

The round robin matches among men and women were played in the curling.

Sweden – China: 8:4

Switzerland – Denmark: 6:4

Canada – the UK: 5:6

Alina Zagitova and Evgenia Medvedeva from OAR took the first and the second place in the short program in the figure skating. Kaetlyn Osmond from Canada was the third.

Men’s ski cross took place in the freestyle skiing. Brady Leman from Canada won the gold medal. Marc Bischofberger got the silver medal and Sergey Ridzik took the bronze medal.

Men’s quarterfinals and competition for the bronze medals among women took place in the ice hockey. National Team of Finland won over the OAR with the score 3:2 and took the bronze medal.

Results of the quarterfinals of the men:

Czech Republic – the US: 3:2

OAR – Norway: 6:1

Canada – Finland: 1:0

Sweden – Germany: 3:4

Men’s and ladies’ team pursuits took place in the speed skating. The results of the men: Norway took the gold medal, South Korea won silver and the Netherlands got the bronze medal. The results of the women: Japan won the competition, the Netherlands was the second and the US was the third.
