Ukrainian boxer Sergiy Derevyanchenko has given an interview to PBC ring announcer and host Ray Flores prior to his upcoming fight against WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo.
"The fight against Charlo is a great one, but it is also quite challenging. My previous title fights were very close, very competitive. I know exactly what mistakes I made in those fights. I think I should be pushing forward even harder, apply more pressure. We picked sparring partners who box just like Charlo.
In fact, at this level, every fighter possesses power, everyone knows how to punch. Jacobs had great power, Golovkin was punching hard. That is why I am ready for this bout. I am going to be even more aggressive, even more persistent. I am going to win rounds more confidently. I think I have a good chance of finally capturing a world title. I am very proud of this opportunity to perform at a high level,” he said.
As we reported earlier, WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo is eying a stoppage in his next bout against two-time world title contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
“It would definitely deliver a statement to the world of boxing, to let them know that, yeah, the power is for real and I can get in there with just about anybody," Charlo stated.
