Dereck Chisora was scheduled to fight Joseph Parker in October. But that fight was postponed because of the infection, which flared up after Parker had got bitten by a spider.
"It was all scheduled, four weeks prior to the fight, he gets bitten by a spider and the fight doesn’t happen. That was Parker’s opportunity for the fight. It could still happen, but for me, Usyk is definitely the frontrunner, the fighter that I want, the fighter that Dereck wants," Chisora’s promoter David Haye stated.
As we reported earlier, Matchroom Boxing is planning to launch a large-scale boxing show in Britain, on February 2020, VRinge portal reported. Its Chairman Eddie Hearn wants Oleksandr Usyk who recently made his heavyweight debut to appear on this show.
"I think that Chisora’s fight with Usyk is possible. They can fight next year, perhaps even for the WBO championship title. If the match takes place in February, Chisora and Usyk will fight for the status of a mandatory challenger," Hearn said.
"Chisora is also ready for the fight with Joseph Parker. Chisora is Benjamin Button of the British heavyweight boxing. Dereck is ready for big fights. Usyk and Parker are the main contenders for the fight with him," the promoter added.
