The Danish squad had an amazing night at Euro 2020. Prior to the fixture with Russia, though, it did not look that way. The Danes needed at least two goals against the Russians, and they badly needed Belgium to beat Finland in the same group.
Kasper Hjulmand's team managed to score first. Then, they doubled it. The Russians resisted, and Artem Dzyuba scored with the successful penalty shot. This made the Danish fans really nervous, as the team couldn't allow any more goals against them.
Less than five minutes after that, the Danes returned the favour and changed the balance to their advantage again. 2-1 changed to 4-1, thanks to the efforts of Andreas Christensen and Joakim Maehle.
The Danish supporters welcomed the outcome of the Belgium-Finland fixture, as the Red Devils prevailed 2-0; this allowed the Danes to proceed into the Round of the Last 16.
