The national team of Ukraine won the first gold medal at the Deaflympics-2017 that began in the Turkish city Samsun. The shooter Oleksandr Kostyk from Kirovograd region handed the victory. The Minister of Youth and Sport of Ukraine Igor Zhdanov reported this at Facebook.

'The national team of Ukraine won the first gold in the first competition day at the Deaflympics games 2017 that started in the Turkish city Samsun. The Ukrainian Oleksandr Kostyk perfectly performed. He became the Champion of the Deaflympics in ten meters shooting from the airgun rifle. He had the step on his rival from South Korean in 1.4 points in the consistent struggle. I am sure that such good beginning will set the victorious pace for our national team until the end of the competitions', he noted.

There are 218 sportsmen in the Ukrainian national team at the Deaflympics-2017. They will take part in 15 kinds of sport for the first time.

The Deaflympics games are the sport competition of the highest level for people who do not hear approved by the International Olympic Committee. This summer they take place from July 18 until July 30, in Turkey.
