Ukrainian WBA flyweight champion Artem Dalakian defended his title for the fourth time, defeating Venezuelan Josber Perez. The boxing bout took place on Saturday, February 8, at Kyiv International Convention Center Parkovy, UNIAN reports.
From the first round, Dalakian was able to take the advantage, but Perez was trying to respond, pushing forward with his own attacks. After the fourth round, the opponents began pushing the pace a little bit more and eventually got themselves in back-and-forth exchanges.
Even though Dalakian was unable to knock his Brazilian counterpart after a flurry of punches in the last round, the judges gave the victory to the Ukrainian boxer. Thus, Dalakyan defeated Perez via unanimous decision: 118:110, 117:111, 117:111.
In his post-fight interview, Dalakian stated that he had broken his right hand in the first half of the bout.
It is the fourth successful title defense for Ukrainian who became the champion in 2018, while Perez gets a third loss on his professional record.
As we reported earlier, Ukrainian boxer Denys Berinchyk is expected to defend his WBO International lightweight title against 26-year-old Argentinian Hector Edgardo Sarmiento.
