Conor McGregor, one of the most famous MMA fighters in history, visited Kyiv for the first time, where he talked to fans and media representatives.
There was no room at Champion Hall|Parimatch in Kyiv - many people wanted to see UFC star. The meeting began with a serious backset as the flight from Ireland was delayed due to the non-flying weather in Kyiv. But Conor landed in the capital of Ukraine and met with Ukrainian public in a good mood.
Conor McGregor has been Parimatch's official ambassador since February 2019.
"I am very happy to be in Ukraine. The first thing I noticed was a large number of boards with me at the airport and in the city. It is really nice and motivating," McGregor said.
The topic of Lomachenko-Usyk was raised several times during the evening. The Irishman is fond of Loma's technique but has not seen Oleksandr's fights. He was even offered a theoretical fight with Usyk, but Conor noted the difference in weight.
"I know that Ukrainian boxing is just phenomenal. I know Vasyl Lomachenko very well. He needs to try it in MMA. I believe that everything will work out for him. Usyk had to go to the heavyweight division. He is also a very great boxing master. It will be very interesting to have a look at him in the heavyweight division".
Together with Conor, De Devlin, his wife, also arrived in Kyiv. She is capable of cooking Kyiv-style cutlets, which Conor likes a lot.
"I love Kyiv cutlets. My girlfriend cooks them for me. Speaking about drinks, I like coffee and water. It's good for an athlete. I have a nutritionist now. I have had many ups and downs. Over time, I learned how to train properly, eat, stick to the regime. We are all human beings. You can lose, but you have to keep working and giving yourself to your work. You just have to believe in yourself."
There were some politics talks during the press conference.
"Your president was a comedian, right? It's funny, we have such a joke: we used to laugh at comedians and listen to politicians, but now we listen to comedians and laugh at politicians."
McGregor answered vaguely about his future. Although it is very likely that we will see the Irish again in the octagon pretty soon. His last bout took place more than a year ago, Conor lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov via submission in the fourth round. However, it is a Russian fighter who is the favorite in the fight with Tony Fergusson, according to Conor.
"Hard choice. But to be honest, I think Khabib will defeat him. Tony is a great fighter, he falls down, gets up, hits again and never gets tired. But I choose Khabib.
We are at the negotiation stage. I hope the battle will be in December. I am currently working on charity projects in my native Kremlin. Hopefully, something will come up in December. I hope there will be a charity tournament in Dublin".
