China's stance on Taiwan after the Saturday presidential election remains unchanged. Reuters reports it.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China said that "there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is part of China." According to the Chinese MFA, the situation would remain regardless of changes in the internal system in Taiwan.
Earlier it was reported, Cai Inwen, who was reelected president of Taiwan for a second term yesterday, called on China to dialogue and renounce unacceptable conditions and threats of the use of force. She also stated that democracy and freedom are the greatest values for Taiwan.
In January 2019, Chinese President Xi Jinping, while speaking in parliament, warned of the possibility of using force against 'those who oppose' the peaceful reunification of Taiwan and China. Despite China’s confidence in its influence, Taiwan considers itself a separate republic.
