World Boxing Organization deprived Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk of the title of world champion in heavyweight, as the head of the organization Francisco Varcarcel.
“As WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk moves to super heavyweight, Krzysztof Głowacki becomes a ‘temporary” champion of the organization,” he said.
The Polish boxer will fight with Mairis Briedis in the semi-final of the second season of Super Series. WBO title will be the prize of this fight.
“We have authorized this fight as a voluntary defense of the title,” Varcarcel said.
As it was reported, after he won in Super Series and defended the title of world absolute champion in heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk announced that he moves to super heavyweight. His debut in this category was supposed to be held in a fight against Carlos Takam, but Usyk got injured and the fight was postponed.
