Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk made it to Rank 7 in the top 10 list of BoxRec portal. With 692 points in the pocket, Usyk boasts the victory in the WBSS finale, where he beat Russian Murat Gassiev. The Ukrainian left British Anthony Joshua behind, who comes eighth, with 673 points.
Vasyl Lomachenko, Usyk's compatriot, and another prominent Ukrainian boxer is now fourth on the list.
Murat Gassiev, Usyk's opponent in the WBSS final, lost his previous position (46th) and now comes 66th.
On July 21, Usyk and Gassiev fought in the final of the World Boxing Super Series. The fight was under the dictation of Usyk from the beginning. Oleksandr was actively using footwork from the very first round by constantly moving around the rival. The Ukranian boxer almost didn’t use his left hand during the first two rounds constantly punching jabs into the head of a Russian.
Such tactic of the Ukranian worked, and Gassiev couldn’t reach the comfortable position for himself. Sometimes, he had a rare blow to his body. The Russian adapted to the movements of Usyk towards the middle of the fight and his blows were hitting the spot more often.
Gassiev was trying to take down the rival with strength by sitting on his shots. Some of them were hitting the hands and the body of the Ukrainian but by returning to a distance within arm's reach he slowed the tension of the Russian blows.
