Ukrainian boxer Yuriy Zakhareev became world champion. In the final of competitions in the weight category up to 71 kilograms in Belgrade, he defeated Russian Vadim Musaev. This is reported by the Boxing Federation of Ukraine. 

For 19-year-old Zakhareev, it was his debut world boxing championship. However, he made it to the finals quite confidently. And already in the final he defeated the 28-year-old Russian Vadim Musaev.

Zakhareev won by unanimous decision after three rounds. Only in the second round, one of the judges gave the victory to a Russian, while the rest gave a victory to a Ukrainian.

For his victory, Zakhareev received a gold medal and $ 100,000.

This is the first victory of Ukrainian boxers at the world championship since 2017. Then Oleksandr Khyzhnyak returned with a gold award.

As we reported earlier, Oleksandr Usyk became the new unified heavyweight world champion after defeating Anthony Joshua with an incredible performance in London.

After the fight, the judges of the match unanimously gave the victory to Oleksandr Usyk. Now the Ukrainian has become the world champion in super heavyweight according to the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO.
