“We'd be happy to have him. I've become friendly with him, a very funny charming guy, and I know him pretty well because of the Lomachenko situation. Top Rank would love to promote him if there are no impediments. He's a wonderful boxer and athlete but more than that a great person, he’s very smart and a lot of fun.
“He hasn’t reached out but he has the same manager as Lomachenko, Egis Klimas. Egis would reach out to me if there was an opportunity for us to get involved with Usyk, so I’d leave it up to Egis to contact me - we have a great relationship,” Arum said.
Oleksandr Usyk signed a contract with K2 Promotions in 2013. The duration of the agreement was 7 years.
As we reported earlier, the World Boxing Council (WBC) has decided to introduce its new weight class - "Bridgerweight". The naming was inspired by a young man Bridger Walker who saved his four-year-old sister from a wild dog attack during the coronavirus pandemic.
The new division's weight limit is 200-224 pounds. Most of the boxing observers and fans were expecting to see Oleksandr Usyk, who is considered to be a small heavyweight, as a good addition to the division.
Nevertheless, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman stated that Usyk is not interested in doing it.
