Oleksandr Usyk, Ukraine's undisputed world champion in the heavyweight division could face Russian boxer Aleksandr Povetkin. The latter's promoter Andrey Ryabinski said this as quoted by R-Sport.
'So far, I can say there is an opportunity of such fight; but one cannot tell for sure if all's been settled. This is, for now, a project, and we're considering options of hosting such fight. There are options, including the bout with Usyk', Ryabinski said.
The talks of such bout possible taking place started taking place immediately after Usyk's victory over Bellew. Recently, British promoter Eddie Hearn added he planned to organize the fight between Usyk and Povetkin in the U.S. Under the preliminary data, it could take place May 18 in Chicago.
Previously, Povetkin already fought against a Ukrainian boxer. In 2013, the Russian stood against Wladimir Klitschko who won the fight on a unanimous decision.
