Former WBC world light welterweight champion Viktor Postol has been waiting for his shot at the world title for more than six months. Nevertheless, according to Top Rank Promotions, the Ukrainian pugilist will face WBC/WBO unified champion Jose Ramirez at the end of the summer, ESPN reports.
The fight is scheduled for August 29, Las Vegas is expected to host it.
The fighters were initially supposed to meet each other inside a ring back in February, but the coronavirus pandemic forced the delay which resulted in two rebooks.
Postol, in his turn, does not allow anything to disrupt him from becoming a two-time world champion.
“My number one motivation today is to prove that a lot of people are wrong and become a world champion. That is the main goal in my career - I want to become a two-time world champion - and it does not matter what belt it is. I just want to become a world champion. Of course, I want to fight in big fights, I want to fight for good money, but that is not the main thing for me. For me, the most important thing is to become the world champion for the second time,” he added.
As we reported earlier, it looks like another Ukrainian boxer will get an opportunity to fight for a world championship. It is reported that the teams of Sergiy Derevyanchenko and WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo are close to finalizing the deal on the fight.
