World champion in heavyweight Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk to face with Carlos Takam from Cameroon on May 25. British promoter Eddie Hearn wrote about this on Twitter.
Firstly, Usyk’s debut in super heavyweight category was planned against Povetkin on May 17. However, the negotiations had lasted for too long, so the fight had to be changed.
“May 25 is going to be a prominent day in my career, as I will fight in super heavyweight category. I became an absolute champion in the cruiserweight category, so now this is my goal in the heavyweight category. This challenge will happen against Carlos Takam on May 25. It will be rather a difficult fight, but I need to try myself against the opponent of the world-class,” Usyk said.
Carlos Tamak is 38 years. He had 42 professional fights; the boxer won 36 of them. He only lost to Povetkin, Parker, Joshua, and Chisora.
Earlier, the World Boxing Association (WBA) obliged Oleksandr Usyk to protect his title against the Russian Denis Lebedev. In case of refusal, Usyk will lose the status of an absolute champion with his WBA belt. Denis Lebedev will compete for the vacant title with undefeated Lawrence Okolie.
