Teofimo Lopez Jr. (15-0, 12 KOs) and Vasyl Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs) are going to unify all major titles in the lightweight division next month.
Nevertheless, the IBF champion and his father have been verbally attacking the Ukrainian pugilist for a few years already. In his recent interview, Teofimo Lopez Sr. once again promised that his son would destriy Loma in the ring, Boxing Scene reports.
“I believe my son is faster than Lomachenko, I believe my son is smarter than Lomchenko, and I believe my son is stronger. So he has everything to beat Lomachenko. Lomachenko is used to winning. He is used to lining people with all of these things that he does in the ring but that is not going to faze my son. My son has no respect for him … My son is going to beat him so bad that Lomachenko is going to be out for months, or a year or so. He is going to be devastated,” he said.
As we reported earlier, on August 29, WBC/WBO junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez successfully defended his titles by beating mandatory challenger Viktor Postol (31-3, 12 KOs) via majority decision.
The judges' scorecards were 114-114, 115-113, and 116-112. The outcome has generated a lot of controversy among the fans and boxing experts.
