IBF lightweight world champion Teofimo Lopez Jr. (15-0, 12 KOs) is only 11 days away from his unification bout against WBC/WBA/WBO and Ring Magazine titleholder Vasyl Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs).
Even though it is expected to be Lopez's biggest bout, the 23-year-old boxer is ready to seize his moment, Boxing News 24 reports.
“I am 12 days out from being the undisputed champion. That is where my mindset is at. I am 23-years-young, and we have a lot to showcase. I am very content. No nerves. I am just ready and determined. The winner comes out the undisputed lightweight champion. That is something historic right there. This is for all the marbles. I am very thankful, very happy, and I cannot wait,” he said.
The IBF champion also talked about his opponent and gave his own explanation for the dislike towards his Ukrainian counterpart.
“Moving forward, I have had my reasons. I have seen how Vasily Lomachenko carries himself outside of the sport. I got to witness that in person because I am a professional athlete, I can see behind the scenes. And I just do not like it. I do not like the way things have been carried upon with him. That is why on October 17th, I cannot wait to put hands on him," Lopez Jr. added.
As we reported earlier, Vasyl Lomachenko promises to inflict a lot of pain on Teofimo Lopez Jr. if the opportunity presents itself.
