Vasyl Lomachenko, Ukraine's prominent boxer and WBO super featherweight champion will stand against Jorge Linares from Venezuela. ESPN reported that on Tuesday.
On Monday, both sides signed the contract on the bout. The fight is slated for May 12; it's supposed to take place at Madison Square Garden.
The bout will be Lomachenko's first fight in the lightweight division. Linarez, on the other hand, will be defending his WBA champion's title.
Jorge Linares is a Venezuelan professional boxer. He is a four-time world champion in three weight classes, having held the WBA and Ring magazine lightweight titles since 2016. Previously he held the WBC featherweight title from 2007 to 2008, the WBA super featherweight title from 2008 to 2009, and the WBC lightweight title from 2014 to 2016. As of February 2018, Linares is ranked as the world's best active lightweight by The Ring and BoxRec.
