Ukraine's lightweight champion of the world (WBA) Vasyl Lomachenko will face either Ray Beltran or Jose Pedrasa in his next fight, Lomachenko's promoter Bob Arum said.
On August 25, Beltran, the WBO world champion in the same division, will stand against Puerto Rican Jose Pedrasa; the winner will face the Ukrainian boxer in the next bout.
'They both signed the contract (to fight Lomachenko, - 112 International). It will be a tough fight and the main event at ESPN channel', Arum said.
Earlier, we reported that Vasyl Lomachenko reached the status of WBA super champion. As Ring Polska reads, the organization decided to make a competition for the champion belt in a featherweight category between Lomachenko’s last competitor Jorge Linares and Daud Yordan, who are to negotiate the fight. The status of WBA super champion gives Lomachenko an opportunity to have a fight with a champion in any weight category.
It should be noted that Lomachenko’s next fight might be with Mikey Garcia, Floyd Mayweather’s ward. It is also possible that he will fight with Beltran. The next fight of the Ukrainian boxer is expected to be held on December 1. Additionally, Oleksandr Usyk, the absolute champion in a heavyweight category, received super champion status. Earlier, Lomachenko has headed the rating of world best boxers regardless of the weight category for the third time.
