Ukraine’s WBO junior lightweight champion of the world Vasyl Lomachenko gave an interview for Fight Hub TV, in which he shared his mood before the bout against Guillermo Rigondeaux.
‘I never assess my opponents as 50-50. I always fight to win, and I’m 100-percent sure in my victory. My advantage is keeping the pace high throughout the entire fight, that’s the only way to eventually defeat him. I was really surprised when Rigondeaux agreed to fight because over the last two year’s it’s been nothing but talks. He changed his mind many times, and he would always come up with various excuses. When they called me and said he signed the contract, I could not believe it. I don’t consider myself the best boxer regardless of the weight category; I think I’m in the top ten, but not ranked first – yet,’ Lomachenko said.
The bout between Lomachenko and Rigondeaux will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York, on December 9. The Ukrainian will be defending his WBO junior lightweight title.
