Murat Gassiev, the Russian opponent of Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk in the final fight of the World Boxing Super Series is 'a strong and ambitious fighter'. Usyk himself said this in his interview with 112 Ukraine TV channel.
'Gassiev is a young, strong, ambitious guy who is eager to claim every belt in his career, and he wants this Cup. But there's another guy who wants it just as much, and it's me. So we're going to have a nice and interesting fight. A beautiful fight,' he said.
The Ukrainian also said currently, he does not care about the high stakes and the degree of the public interest for this fight. 'For now, I don't even think about boxing. And I'm not holding onto my belts', he added.
The final bout of the WBSS where Usyk faces Gassiev is to take place in Saudi Arabia in May. Russian officials, however, offer to hold the event in Russia in July. Usyk, in turn, said he does not care about this. 'It doesn't matter much to me - where I fight. It might seem unfair, but it's going to be the way the God intends. I don't care where to go; wherever I go, it's 'do or die' for me,' the Ukrainian champion concluded.
