Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko had the first lightweight fight with Jorge Linares from Venezuela in New York.
The start of the fight was quite peaceful. Ukrainian kept the opponent, who tried to fight as much as possible focused, on a distance. But when Lomachenko accelerated, Linares, confused, started missing small uppercuts.
In the 6th round, Linares demonstrated how he was going to win the fight – Lomachenko missed a straight blow in the head and sent to knock-down. Ukrainian stood up right away and was ready to rejoin the fight. After a couple of persistent rounds, when either of the boxers could win, Lomachenko showed a series of good hits, which was ended by a kick in a liver – Linares got down on the ring, the referee stopped the fight and declared Lomachenko a winner.
Earlier, this fight became the 12th one for Lomachenko in his professional career.
As it was reported earlier, Lomachenko was a favorite of the fight according to bookmakers.
