Matchroom Boxing Chairman Eddie Hearn said that boxing bout between Oleksandr Usyk and Dereck Chisora could take place on February 8, Boxing News 24 reports.
“I had a meeting with Usyk’s team in Monaco. They’re very interested in a fight with Chisora,” Hearn said.
“I had talks with David Haye, and Dereck Chisora. They’re very interested in that fight. February 8th is the potential date, but hopefully, they’ll both be here this week. I know Usyk is coming, and I believe Chisora is coming as well,” he added.
It is worth noting that Hearn had earlier expressed his concern in Usyk’s ability to handle power in the heavyweight division.
“Even against Chisora, it’s such an interesting fight, because we know Usyk is going to pick off Chisora. But he’s [Chisora] a right handful, he’s a big lump, and he can punch. You’re going to get a lot of answers in that fight, in my opinion. I see Usyk as the favorite, of course, but I think he’s going to be asked a lot of serious questions because Chisora is a bull,” Matchroom Boxing Chairman added.
As we reported earlier, Matchroom Boxing is planning to launch a large-scale boxing show in Britain, on February 2020, VRinge portal informed. The main event bout between Usyk and Chisora will be for the status of a mandatory challenger.
