A mixed relay race of the European Championship took place in Belarus. Ukraine's biathlon squad showed the best speed among all participants, which led them to gold medals at this stage of the competition. Russians claimed silver, and the home team, Belarus, came third, as Norway was disqualified.
The team included Valentyna Semerenko, Yulia Dzhyma, Artem Pryma and Dmytro Pidruchny; another two Ukrainian biathletes, Anastasia Merkushyna and Ruslan Tkalenko claimed bronze in the single mixed event.
"I was in a hurry just a bit when I was shooting from a prone position - perhaps, I didn't react to the wind change. The Belarusian raced in a decent manner, maybe he had some good skis. It was hard to follow him, I did it by the skin of my teeth. The route was awful today, it was just a mess. So I realized it was important to shoot clean when in a standing position", Pidruchny said.
"I was sure I hit the last target when shooting, but my height turned against me. I had to chase my opponents. The skis were good ones today thanks to the support team, they did a great job. One could easily work with them and chase the opponents", said Pryma who shared his experience with the press.
