The middlefielder of the national football team of Ukraine Viktor Kovalenko has signed a contract with Atalanta B.C. This was reported by Sky Sport Italia.
Negotiations between Atalanta and Shakhtar Donetsk FC, which Kovalenko previously represented, took place in January. Kovalenko's contract with the Donetsk club expired last summer, and it was reported that he had already signed a preliminary contract with Atalanta. Nonetheless, Bergamo agreed to arrange the transfer this winter so that Shakhtar would receive compensation for their player.
Kovalenko's transfer will cost Atalanta one million euros and will take place in the coming days. The player will undergo a medical examination this weekend.
If the transfer appears to be a successful one, Kovalenko will reunite with another Ukrainian player - Ruslan Malinovskyi.
As we reported earlier, according to UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, Euro 2020 will be hosted by 12 cities with fans in attendance.
The start of the championship is scheduled for June 11.
