2026 FIFA World Cup to take place in US, Canada, Mexico

The selection of the place for the holding of the 2026 FIFA World Cup took place in Moscow before the beginning of the 2018 World Cup.

According to the results of the voting at the FIFA congress, it was decided that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in three countries for the first time ever.

2026 Mundial will be held in the US, Mexico and Canada. The selection took place within the Congress of the International Federation of Football in Moscow. The result was announced on the results of the open electronic voting of the congress’s delegates. The only competitor of the united application was Morocco.

134 delegates voted for the application of the US, Canada and Mexico, while Morocco got 65 votes, one person abstained as TASS reported.

2026 FIFA World Cup can become the first one to unite 48 national teams. It is planned that 23 cities will host it. Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey in Mexico. Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal in Canada. The biggest amount of the matches will take place in the US: in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Boston, Cincinnati, Nashville, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Huston, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Kansas City and Seattle.

All mentioned cities already have the stadiums and ready to host the World Cup.

The World Cup took place in North America three times. In 1970 and 1986 it was held in Mexico and 1994 in the USA. Canada has never hosted the Mundial before. Morocco filed the application to host the World Cup for the fifth time.
