President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the evacuation of Ukrainians from Wuhan and shamed protesters who blocked hospitals and routes. He wrote about it on his Facebook page.
"Unfortunately, not all of us can be proud of the same human reaction. Attempts to block routes, block hospitals, not allowing Ukrainian citizens to arrive in Ukraine - this shows us by far not the best side of our character. Especially considering that most of the passengers are people aged under 30. They are almost like children to many of us," Zelensky wrote.
He also added that a person’s stay in another country should not make him a stranger to Ukraine. The head of state promised to "fight for every Ukrainian" who was in trouble and hoped for the same attitude on the part of fellow citizens.
As we reported earlier, in Vynnyky, Lviv region, people blocked the entrance to the hospital and put tires on the road in order to prevent Ukrainians, who had been evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan, from entering the hospital.
"If we let all the patients go, who will protect us? There are no patients, the hospital is empty, bring whoever you want to. We will stand until the end. We have no other choice. Because we will be put out of a job. Nobody explains anything, they said that was an evacuation," an employee of the hospital stated.
