Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in the framework of Zelensky’s Turkish tour and Ukrainian-Turkish business forum. Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Turkey, reported that on his Twitter.

Bartholomew gave a luncheon in honor of the Ukrainian President Zelensky.

As we reported earlier, President Zelensky came to Turkey with an official visit on August 7, 2019. This is his first visit to Turkey as the President of Ukraine. He had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Zelensky offered Turkey to join the process of Donbas infrastructure rebuilding.

Besides, in the framework of the business forum in Turkey, Zelensky announced the land reform to be held in Ukraine this year. He also admitted that a Turkish company already owns some of the Ukrainian lands. The President said he hoped to increase the number of such companies, especially in the southern part of the country.

There was a threat to the disruption of the meeting due to the escalation in Donbas. After the attack of the Ukrainian position and death of four soldiers, Zelensky stated that he will immediately return to Ukraine in the case of another escalation in the Joint Forces Operation zone.
