President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky turned to fellow citizens on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the National Unity Day, first marked in 1918. The address has been released on the website of the President's Office.
"More than a hundred years passed. Did we make any conclusions from that story? It teaches us a simple, but a vital principle for Ukraine: united we stand... To be strong, we need to become united. To be united, we have to be strong. Remember that! Happy holiday! Happy Unity Day!", the President said.
According to him, in the modern world, the feeling of national unity is reached via common traditions, culture and religion, but also via values that are acceptable in every single bit of Ukraine. These are supposed to be the values that serve to identify Ukrainians everywhere on the planet. "The values of integrity and righteousness. The values of freedom and democracy. The wish for economic welfare and prosperity. The wish to be rich. The values of respect for the law, private property and respect for each other", Zelensky concluded.
