Beautiful nature, resorts and landfill sites are the typical Zakarpattia region today. The classic example is Kvasy village, Rakhiv area. The huge dump is situated near the river not far from the tourist camp with mineral water as 24 channel reported.
Formally, this territory is certificated and has a status of ground for collection and storage of garbage. However, this fact disquiets as according to the rules, it is impossible to set out the objects of such a nature near water. In fact, it is an illegal dumping: everyone can come and throw away the garbage. The local authorities only complain that it is impossible to hold recultivation, conservation and replacement of the ground due to the mountainous terrain.
Totally, there is so much garbage in Zakarpattia that it even goes to neighboring Hungary by Tisa River.
Annually, the Hungarians take away out of river a lot of plastic bottles from Ukraine. According to the European legislation, they cannot let it reach Danube River. Each Ukraine gets a bill from Hungary for it.
There are also other problems with the protection of the environment in Ukraine. Thus, the level of the groundwater critically declines. The Ukrainians may face the restricted access to water soon. The water does not reach the underground strata anymore as it has to do but leaks to the sea. It turned out that our management system did not consider the possibility of climate change and lack of water. That is why it is not excluded that soon the State Agency for Water Resources will be obliged to restrict the use of water by Ukrainians.
Thus, the illegal hunting and trade of rare animal species thrive in Ukraine. Such a trade becomes one of the most profitable businesses in the world – it takes the third of fourth place after drug, arms, and human trafficking. Our country does not stay aside. Besides, during the past years, the number of human interventions in different ecosystems has increased. They build highways with fences; the animals are isolated and deprived of the possibility to move freely and interbreed for multiplication.
Ukraine sharply needs new forest policy. Due to the barbaric logging, each fifth species of animal and each eighth species of plant vanish; however, they are included in the Red Book of Ukraine. However, the number of logging only grows.
As we reported, experts of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) insist that Ukraine needs a national strategy of preservation of biodiversity and habitat.
