The risk of further spread of coronavirus infection across the world will remain even after vaccination. This was stated by Michael Ryan, Executive Director of WHO Health Emergencies Programme, Russian.News.CN reports.
After being asked whether Covid-19 would become endemic, Ryan stressed that vaccination coverage would not be able to stop the transmission in the foreseeable future.
The official noted that the world probably should not count on getting rid of the virus in 2021.
"We have been able to defeat only one disease – smallpox. That is why we must strive to achieve control over the virus," he said.
As we reported earlier, according to the French National Academy of Medicine, passengers in public transport should avoid talking to one another or on the phone in order to minimize the risk of spreading Covid-19.
“The mandatory wearing of masks on public transport, where social distancing is not possible, should be accompanied by one very simple precaution: avoid talking and making phone calls,” the statement said.
