Woman sick with measles died after childbirth in Sumy

A woman in labor, who was sick with measles, died in Sumy as STS TV Company reported citing Serhy Butenko, the Head of the Healthcare Department of Sumy Regional State Administration.

A woman gave birth to a child on the weekends at a local maternity home. A woman sickened with measles when she was pregnant. However, the precise cause of the woman’s death is unknown yet and it will be established after the autopsy.

It is known that a born child does not have the signs of measles yet. The doctors state that the risks of the infection of the child with measles remain.

Earlier a two-year-old boy deceased because of the complications caused by measles. The deadly case was observed in Lviv, western Ukraine.

Moreover, a nine-year-old girl died from measles in Rivne region. It is the third case since the beginning of the year.

Generally, it was reported that 30,794 people have infected with measles since the beginning of 2019 in Ukraine. The incidence rate grows in Kyiv, Khmelnytsk, Ternopil, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions and in Kyiv as well.
