The World Health Organization (WHO) publishes the warning concerning the mitigation of the quarantine during the Christmas holidays in the regions with the unfavorable epidemiological situation as Deutsche Welle reported citing Executive Director of the World Health Organization's Health Emergencies Programme Michael Ryan.
“If the country does not have the necessary infrastructure and the authorities cannot track the contacts of the infected people and isolate them, the mitigations will lead to the sharp growth of the number of infections,” Ryan noted.
Meanwhile, he pointed out the possible negative consequences of keeping the tough quarantine restrictions on Christmas.
“If people are not provided with the possibility to meet each other, it will cause sadness and depressed state that might lead to fatigue with the restrictive measures and possibly, the further protest against them,” he predicted.
As we reported, Europe is likely to experience a third wave of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic in early 2021 before a vaccine is introduced.
