The World Health Organization (WHO) warns about the second peak of the coronavirus pandemic, which may occur in a few months as CNN reported citing Executive Director of WHO’s Health Emergencies Programme Mike Ryan.
“We're still very much in a phase where the disease is actually on the way up," he stated.
Ryan believes that it would be incorrect to predict the decline of the incidence with coronavirus only on the basis of the registration of data on the reduction of the number of infection cases at the moment.
He noted that the countries have a few months to prepare for the second wave of the Covid-19. The second peak or the second wave of the epidemic may take place during the season of the common flue and it will significantly complicate the control over the disease.
WHO infectious disease epidemiologist Maria Van Kerkhove urged all countries need to remain on high alert – even countries that have seen a decline in cases must remain ready.
As we reported, Montenegro became the first country in Europe which overcame the coronavirus epidemic. During several weeks in a row, there are no reports of new infection cases, and all patients recovered.
