WHO predicts end of Covid-19 pandemic in early 2022

Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) Hans Kluge supposes that the pandemic of coronavirus will end at the beginning of the next year as DR reported.

“The pandemic of coronavirus will end at the beginning of 2022. The worst scenario is behind. We know about the virus much more in comparison with 2020, when the virus has started to spread,” Kluge noted.

He is sure that despite the fact that the coronavirus continues to spread, the necessity in all restrictions will no longer be necessary. Nevertheless, it is impossible to define the clear outcome of the pandemic.

Concerning new mutations of coronavirus, Kluge explained their appearance by the fact that the virus is trying to adapt itself to a human and it is a normal process. In case of necessity, the vaccines might be modified for counteraction new strains and there is no necessity to create them from scratch.

Earlier, the WHO mission found out that the coronavirus (Covid-19) appeared in Wuhan before December 2019; by then, it already circulated in that area. The expert said that in view of this new fact, the WHO is "urgently seeking access to hundreds of thousands of blood samples from the city that China has not so far let them examine".
