Pregnant women should be involved in trials of new drugs and vaccines against Covid-19 as WHO Head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated.

He noted that if members of this category are infected, there is a risk of a serious course of the disease. The WHO chief stressed that pregnant women in all countries "should have access to vaccines to protect their own lives and the lives of their children."

“We also call for pregnant women to be included in clinical trials for new treatments and vaccines,” Adhanom Ghebreyesus added.

According to him, scientists have not come across live Sars-Cov-2 virus in breast milk. In addition, infection of the fetus with coronavirus infection is recorded very rarely.

Earlier, the WHO stated that 90 countries worldwide have failed to meet the goal of vaccinating 40% of their populations against the coronavirus. At the same time, 36 countries have vaccinated less than 10% of their populations.

We also reported that the WHO stated that over 7 million new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the first week of 2022 in Europe. At this rate, it is projected that more than 50% of the region's population will be infected with Omicron in the next six-eight weeks.
