Weight-in-Motion: Ukraine to introduce automatic weighing system for cars

An automatic weighing system Weight-in-Motion will be introduced on the roads of Ukraine. About this head of Ukravtodor adviser Olexander Kava said on the air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"Now, on the initiative of Ukravtodor jointly with the World Bank, a pilot Weight-in-Motion monitoring system is being prepared. The sensors will be installed at the entrances to Kyiv, and all cars that enter through 6 main entrances will be weighed while driving," said Olexander Kava.

He added that the weight control function is a function not of Ukravtodor, but of Ukrtransbezpeka.

In February, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Yuriy Lavrenyuk reported that at that time Ukravtodor together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs was deciding on the location and maintenance of data processing centers for automatic weighing and automatic speed control. Then (February 27, 2018), he said that the first WiM-complexes should start working this summer.
